Tackling Burnout: Recognizing, Managing, and Preventing It

35% of all employed Canadians indicate they are burned out. "Despite this, 70% of businesses in Canada do not have a workplace mental health strategy in place". In today's fast-paced world, burnout is becoming increasingly common.

Preventing Burnout

  1. Create a Healthy Work-Life Balance: Make time for hobbies, family, and relaxation.

  2. Practice Soulfulness: Reconnect to your soul by incorporating techniques like meditation, deep breathing and tapping to reduce stress and connect to a deeper internal part of you.

  3. Identify Your Emotions: Your emotions are trying to tell you something. Identifying your emotions can help you understand what support you need. For example: feeling overwhelmed can mean a need to get organized to feel more in control.

  4. Stay Organized: Effective time management and advanced planning can help you to stay on top of your tasks to decrease the overwhelm.

  5. Foster a Positive Work Environment: Encourage open communication and support within your team. Build a positive relationship with likeminded colleagues.

Burnout is a serious issue impacting 35% of all employed Canadians, but with the right strategies and supports, it can be managed and prevented. By recognizing the signs early, taking steps to manage stress, receiving support to cope with the emotional overwhelm, and fostering a balanced lifestyle, you can maintain your well-being and continue to thrive in your professional and personal life.
